This collection contains some original stories by the award winning author Barbara Diamond Goldin. The following original stories included in this collection have been previously published in magazines or books for children: Ketsele's Gift, Never Too Quiet, Rough or Smooth, Right Side Up, Don't Blow Out the Candles, and Brave Like Mordecai. There are also eight stories by well-known Jewish writers such as Jane Yolen and Howard Schwartz, as well as poems written by children in the Terezin Concentration camp from I Never Saw Another Butterfly. The rest of the stories in this collection have either been selected and retold by Ms. Goldin, or are nonfiction pieces or biographies that she has written specifically for this collection. Examples of the latter are the pieces about Hannah Rachel Werbermacher, Dona Gracia Nasi, The Kabbalah, The Shofar, and the Jewish Holidays.
